June Schnibble is done!

Every month, on the 1st of the month, when I find out which pattern we will use as part of the Another Year of Schnibbles quilt along, I tell myself "Now this month Izzy, you're going to get this quilt top done early".  And every month, I find myself rushing during the last weekend to try to get the Schnibble done!

And this month was no exception.  Although Leap Year, the June Schnibble, was extremely easy and went together really fast, I still managed to only get it finished this morning!  And basically, today was my deadline for getting it done because I'll be vacation and at the cottage starting tomorrow and until July 1 with no access to the Internet (so no way to participate in the parade!!)  :-)

So here it is...  Leap Year...

I pieced Leap Year with two 1862 Battle Hymn charm packs.  I got these charm packs in a swap with Lisa of In The Boondocks (thank you again Lisa!).

I hope everyone has a great week!

WIP Wednesday

I have progress this week!  Yay!  In between building a new deck at the cottage, having company over for dinner on Saturday night and trying to get rid of the darn red beetles that are killing my lilies, I managed to put the binding on Summer Day and snap a few pictures!

Summer Day - the April Schnibbles designed by the wonderful Carrie of Miss Rosie Quilts.
Pieced with 2 Prairie Paisley II charm packs and bound with some red Henry Glass fabric I had in my stash.

I quilted this one in the ditch and added some straight lines in the border.  Very simple and clean.  I love it.

I am linking up at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday, so here we go with the progress report:

In progress (actual work getting done):
- Two Percent (4 blocks quilted so far - 5 more to go, plus the border and binding)
- Afghan (about 1/2 way done with the grannies)
- Leap Year (June Schnibbles) - started sewing the blocks

Tops waiting for a backing and quilting:
- Daisy Chains (top was completed in July 2010 - I don't even have a picture of it it's been so long!)
- Doc (this is the May Schnibbles - hoping to have this one quilted and done by end of this month)
- Hourglass Patches (top was completed in February 2011 - this one was made with X-Mas fabric so no rush to get it all done)
- Nine Patch Flip (top was completed in December 2011 - I can't decide on a backing for this one and that's why it's been sitting in my pile of unquilted tops all this time)
- Pandora's Box (top was completed in June 2011 - I really love this top, but can't find the proper backing)
- The Big EZ (top completed November 2011 - have the backing fabric, but not enough of it!)

Finishes:
- Summer Day

New Projects:
- Leap Year

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

WIP Wednesday

This last weekend was pretty busy and eventful.  First, I had the day off on Friday so drove to the cottage with the dog planning for a full day of quilting.  Well, thank goodness I didn't have plans to be outside because a tornado hit the small town that's near our cottage!  Wind, rain and ... ice pellets!

Look at the size of that ice pellet next to the arrow!
Anyhow, I spent most of the day working on the quilting for Two Percent and managed to finish quilting 2 more blocks!  So I'm at 4 blocks completed out of 9.  (Sorry, forgot to take pictures!)

Then I pin basted and quilted Summer Day, the April Schnibbles you can read all about here.  I'm hoping to put the binding on it this weekend.

And, of course, a few more grannies got made over the course of the week.  Here's what the afghan looks like so far:

And since I'm linking up at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday, here are some stats:

In progress (actual work getting done):
- Two Percent (4 blocks quilted so far - 5 more to go, plus the border and binding)
- Afghan (about 1/2 way done with the grannies)
- Summer Day (need to finish the binding)

Tops waiting for a backing and quilting:
- Daisy Chains (top was completed in July 2010 - I don't even have a picture of it it's been so long!)

- The Big EZ (top completed November 2011 - have the backing fabric, but not enough of it!)

WIP Wednesday

Progress was made this week!  I was really tired of not finishing anything for the past few weeks so I bit the bullet last weekend, and finally basted and quilted my Girly Squares quilt.   Here's a picture of the finished quilt, if you want to read all about the finish and see more pictures, click here.

I also made progress in the crochet department... made a few more granny squares for the "never ending" afghan I'm making.  I've got between 40 and 50 grannies done - I'm dreading the day when I'll have to sit for hours weaving in those ends!

I've got Friday off this week so with an extra day, I'm hoping to make significant progress on the quilting of Two Percent... perhaps even complete 3 or 4 more squares!  Two Percent has been a WIP for so long now, here's a picture of it "pre-quilting" in case you don't remember what the darn thing looks like anymore!

Here we go with the progress report:

In progress (actual work getting done):
- Two Percent (2 blocks quilted so far - 7 more to go, plus the border and binding)
- Afghan (about 1/2 way done with the grannies)

- Summer Day (this is the April Schnibbles - also hoping to have this one complete by end of June)
- The Big EZ (top completed November 2011 - have the backing fabric, but not enough of it!)

Finishes:
- Girly Squares!  (see above for link and picture)

New Projects:
- None this week, but I'm planning on cutting into some charms for the June Schnibbles - Leap Year.

Birthday Present for ... Me!

Yes, I turned 43 this weekend... not particularly happy about it, but hey! Can't really avoid getting older can we? I did have a wonderful birthday however... lunch with my mom, sister, brother and all of the kiddies. Found out I was going to be an auntie again! :-) Very exciting stuff.

Then for dinner Saturday night, we had friends over at the cottage, ordered pizza, had cake and just chilled for most of the evening. I was turning 43 after all... I'm way past the all-night parties!

Over the weekend, I also finished quilting Girly Squares and yes - this one I'm keeping for myself and calling it my birthday present.

Girly Squares - made with 1/2 Jelly Roll of Giddy by Sandy Gervais

I quilted Girly Squares with straight-line stitching across all of the blocks (there are a few puckers in there, but who cares - this one was for me!  I got a little lazy with the pin basting I think...)

I can't help adding another picture - I love this quilt!  :-)

Oh and here's me blowing out the candle we had to "recycle" from my 8 year-old's birthday party last week... I guess my sweetie forgot to get candles!  :-)

The cake was delicious!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
